Hello Students,

As we prepare for transition to the new MCOM +HI (MDD) building this spring, we wanted to remind you what we currently know about downtown parking, mobility, and transportation.

Beginning January 2020, we anticipate the following transportation-related resources:

  • A range of parking options at various price points and locations near the building to accommodate all spring 2020 building occupants (up to 850 parking spaces for students, faculty, staff). Parking costs will vary based on location/proximity and hours of access (standard, discount, premium); all parking facilities provide the minimum required parking spaces for handicapped/disabled drivers
  • At least 30 bike parking spaces will be located in front of the building; more may be added based on demand
  • A temporary HART bus stop will be located directly behind the building; a permanent stop will be identified in the future as roadway construction concludes in the next 18 -24 months
  • We are exploring the availability of drop-off access directly in front of the building
  • Free access to the TECO streetcar which has a stop in front of the new building and one behind CAMLS. The street car runs regularly from downtown to Ybor City and back, and is always free
  • A pedestrian/bike path located under the Selmon Expressway with access between MCOM and CAMLS.

We are currently finalizing the costs for securing nearby parking, starting with a short-term parking plan intended to bridge the spring semester, from Jan 1 through July 31, 2020, which aligns with the USF parking permit prices and process.

For the spring semester, we are making every effort to make the transition to downtown parking as seamless and cost-effective as possible for you.  This should give you the spring semester to assess your parking preference and needs in the new water street district.

After this first semester, parking costs will revert to market rates (which are not finalized at this time). We anticipate final parking details to be available in mid-fall and will reach out with details accordingly.

Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks and feel free to email me with any additional questions or concerns.

Thank you!
